Yes, the Army Corps of Engineers has put a halt on the Dakota Access Pipeline, and we are jubilant! But the fight has just begun, and education, awareness, and access to real news is crucial for this victory to last.  


Here is the press release and information about our event this coming Friday:

MUSIC, ART, COMMUNITY. Join us for an evening of PEACEFUL PROTEST against the Dakota Access Pipeline with local musicians, The Starlight Honeys, Audrey Drake, The Sandwich Rangers, and The Sweet Bloods, Live communal ART with Meg Rice, information about what’s currently happening at Standing Rock, and how you can help the WATER PROTECTORS save their sacred native lands and our collective precious resource: WATER.

This event is by donation, and all funds raised will be sent to The Standing Rock Medic & Healer Council and will provide much needed supplies for the Water Protectors at Standing Rock.

NOT SURE WHAT STANDING ROCK or the Dakota Access Pipeline are?

“The Dakota Access Pipeline is designed to carry over half a million barrels of crude oil PER DAY over four states—and over cultural and archeological sites sacred to the Mandan, Cheyenne, Lakota and Arikira tribes and perilously close to their vital water sources and lands. Any spill or failure of the pipeline would put these invaluable resources at great risk. Recent spills have dumped a million barrels into the Kalamazoo River in Michigan and 50,000 gallons into the Yellowstone River in Montana, so concerns about contamination are very real. A failure in the Dakota pipeline would affect over half of all the drinking water in South Dakota. Led by the Standing Rock Sioux tribe, the dedicated and determined protectors at the Sacred Stones Camp in North Dakota have stood watch for months to bring progress on the pipeline to a halt.

“The pressure to complete the pipeline is immense yet the tribal stand against it has gathered a lot of power and a lot of press. Since the tribe filed its first court injunction against the pipeline in late July and began putting up tipis by the Cannonball River, thousands of people have gathered to show their support. And despite court orders to vacate and mounting pressure from the US Army Corps of Engineers to move to designated “Free Speech Zones” away from the construction site, they are standing strong with over 10,000 Water Protectors on site, including 2,000 Veterans of various US Wars who arrived on site December 4th to join the stand as a human shield for the Native Americans.

DO NOT BE COMPLACENT.  Just because the DAPL has been momentarily halted does NOT mean it is off the table.  BIG OIL is just waiting for us to back down, forget about this pipeline, at which time they will resume their plan to resume this project.

Our event and the donations we raise will go to support the Dakota Sioux in whatever way is needed as they continue to hold the line and fight for their land and our collective precious resource. Please join us!

Yoga Nidra~The Art of Conscious Relaxation

Yoga Nidra is an ancient and powerful healing modality found in the oldest philosophical yoga texts, and that offers the participant a deep state of conscious rest and relaxation during which one’s awareness of the subtle energy body is expanded. While reclining comfortably, participants are guided through each of the koshas (five layers of your being), all while remaining perfectly still. The goal is to remain “awake and aware,” even though the physical body is enjoying profound rest.

Restorative Yoga & Reiki: The Perfect Pair!

Restorative Yoga is great for every body, offering a respite from the stress of daily life and work, and calming the sympathetic nervous system so the parasympathetic nervous system can take over, allowing the body to relax and heal. It is especially helpful for those recovering from illness, trauma, or injury, as well as for women in pre or post natal care whose bodies are lovingly supported with restorative postures. For those who find slowing down difficult, this practice is essential, complementing an active person’s workout practice, and simply allowing for a restored sense of Self. Honor your body and quietly rejuvenate your spirit while the poses soothe the organ system and allow the brain to quiet. Using bolsters, pillows, blankets, and other props to support the body in a variety of passive poses, students remain in a given posture for 10-15 minutes, focusing only on the breath as they are eased into a state of relaxation. Peaceful music, poetry, and guided imagery help participants to release stress, tension, and “let go” of what does not serve the body and mind.

Take everything in the description above, and add Reiki… you’ll never want to leave the studio! Katie leads the class in restorative yoga poses while Leslie Jose, ARMT, LMT, along with Katie (Reiki II), offer Reiki healing to everyone who wants to receive it. Students are visited during each pose to aid in the movement of blocked energy and the intention to heal dis-ease in the body. Inspiring readings, intention setting, relaxing music, and candlelight create a profoundly beautiful opportunity to practice a very healing kind of yoga.

Ayurvedic Self Care Workshop

“Dinacharya” is the word we use in Ayurveda for a collection of self-care routines one practices daily/weekly to return to and maintain proper balance in the mind and body. Routines can include but are not limited to: tongue scraping, neti pot, abhyanga self massage with oil, nasya (nasal oiling), oil pulling (mouth), aromatherapy, rosewater eyewash, and creating your own daily tea with appropriate spices for your dosha.

In this workshop we will learn about (and practice!) the importance of self-care routines and how to add them to our lives with ease. AND you will take home the tools you need to begin a Dinacharya routine: Workshop includes: 4 oz Rosewater Eyewash, tongue scraper, and Abhyanga massage oil with essential oils, (a $20+ product value!) Plus receive recipes for a good morning lemon flush, all-day dosha balancing tea, and a spiced bedtime milk! WEAR: We will practice a mini oil massage for the arms/legs/feet, and you can shower at home, so BRING an old towel, old sweats or yoga pants and short sleeve as well as long-sleeve top, and SOCKS you don’t mind getting oily. Comfy clothes for sitting and moving (and if you are doing oil massage, wear clothes that you don’t mind wearing after oiling/washing off oil).
